Festivals & Celebrations in Cebu

Cebu is the city of rich culture. This Philippines city is famous for celebrating numerous festivals. But some of the popular ones include - Sinulog, Kadaugan sa Mactan, Virgin Queen of the Rule Fiesta, Semana Santa sa Bantayan, Fiesta sa Carcar, Sanayon and Tres de Abril Celebration.

Out of these, the most famous festival is Sinulog. Also known as Fiesta Senor, this most famous and largest feast is celebrated on every third Sunday of January. This feast is dedicated to Senor Santo Nino that is Sir Baby Jesus of Cebu. This religious festival of nine days includes thanksgiving with a colorful and raucous Mardi Gras parade.

The Virgin Queen of the Rule Fiesta is another very famous festival celebrated on November 20-21 in Opon town. It is both social and religious event includes everything right from food fair to a procession with all the pomp, circumstance expected of the Filipino, and a coronation of a Fiesta Queen.
